lebowski-fargo

Here’s a battle of the Coen brothers with the cult classic’s The Big Lebowski going against Fargo.  So many great lines and scenes in both of these movies that it’s nearly impossible to pick a winner.  If you have a favorite scene or quote, post it below after you vote.

The Big Lebowski - When “The Dude” Lebowski is mistaken for a millionaire Lebowski, two thugs urinate on his rug to coerce him into paying a debt he knows nothing about. While attempting to gain recompense for the ruined rug from his wealthy counterpart, he accepts a one-time job with high pay-off. He enlists the help of his bowling buddy, Walter, a gun-toting Jewish-convert with anger issues. Deception leads to more trouble, and it soon seems that everyone from porn empire tycoons to nihilists want something from The Dude.

vs.

Fargo - Jerry Lundegaard is in a financial jam and, out of desperation, comes up with a plan to hire someone to kidnap his wife and demand ransom from her wealthy father, to be secretly split between Jerry and the perpetrators. Jerry, who is not the most astute of individuals, hires a couple of real losers from the frozen northern reaches of Fargo, North Dakota for the job. Then things begin to slip from bad to worse as Jerry helplessly watches on.

Napoleon versus Ron Burgandy..now that’s a match up.  Sure Napoleon has his wannabe mixed martial arts expert, hip hop brother Kip and the school predsident elect Pedro on his crew, but Ron Burgandy enjoys poetry & a nice glass of scotch.  Plus he plays jazz flute, which is NOT FOR LITTLE SISSY BOYS by the way.  Add in that Anchor man boasts some of the finest cameos in movie history (Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn  & Tim Robbins to name just a few) and this means you’ve got one hell of a film fight.  Whoever posts the best quote from either of these flicks is going to win the DVD’s..so get cracking.

Napoleon Dynamite - A listless and alienated teenager decides to help his new friend win the class presidency in their small western high school, while he must deal with his bizarre family life back home.

vs.

Anchorman - Ron Burgundy is San Diego’s top rated newsman in the male dominated broadcasting of the 1970’s, but that’s all about to change when a new female employee with ambition to burn arrives in his office.

Deep Impact vs. Armageddon

Deep Impact vs. Armageddon

It’s the end of the world as we know it..so it’s time for a film fight.  Asteroids, nuclear weapons, mass hysteria & destruction, and Bruce Willis…now that’s what we call a quality movie. These two flicks just beg to be matched against each other.  If you remember correctly, they both came out within a few months of each other, but it’s never really been determined which movie was the better film.  Well now’s the time to settle it once and for all.

Deep Impact - Unless a comet can be destroyed before colliding with Earth, only those allowed into shelters will survive. Which people will survive? It’s up to a courageous team of astronauts to save the world..do they have what it takes?

vs.

Armageddon - When an asteroid the size of Texas is headed for Earth the world’s best deep core drilling team is sent to nuke the rock from the inside.  Once again it’s up to a courageous team of astronauts to get up there, destroy the asteroid, and save the day.
